This composition brings together two muted yet deeply rich tones, a warm purple with red undertones and a mossy jade green. Both colors feel organic and flow into one another with a quiet intensity. The palette evokes swampy lagoon, estuary-like waters, where thick silt and plant life move slowly beneath the surface. The purple draws from the warm colors found in wildlife scales and feathers and foliage alike, bringing more than just floral imagery to mind.
Large, expansive leaves cascade down the canvas with the rhythm of a slow-moving water. The textured greens and layered surface create visual density, encouraging close exploration. The forms suggest seaweed drifting along a rocky shoreline as easily as plant life rooted in shallow freshwater marsh. This ambiguity allows the environment to feel transitional rather than fixed.
The title clarifies this threshold; “Brackish” refers to the meeting point of fresh and salt water, where ecosystems overlap and resilience is necessary for survival. The color relationships and fluid textures reflect that crossing of boundaries, presenting a space where elements merge and adapt.
